AAC dramatically reduces the amount of data needed to convey high-quality digital audio. AAC is capable of replacing MP3 as the new Internet audio standard because of improved compression that provides higher-quality results with smaller file sizes and improved decoding efficiency which requires less processing power to decode. Fraunhofer, Dolby, Sony, AT&T, and Nokia are part of the MPEG group that developed AAC.
