In the WAP/xHTML version you must click "List Forums", then select a Forum, then go to the bottom of that page and choose "New topic".
Yes, you can edit all your posts anytime. If your post represents the starting of a topic, then you will able to edit also the title of the respective thread.
Your profile can be modified anytime. Also there are extra settings that you couldn't define in the registration process.
From "My account" you can also choose an personal or public avatar.
If you would like to change the username, send a PM (private message) to DSF, including also your reason.
